Course Information:
Run/Walk on the Prairie is a race for the serious and recreational runners. The scenic course of crushed limestone winds through the conservation community past horse pastures, organic farm and Lake Leopold. Walkers/Runners with strollers and baby joggers are welcome. Please line up behind racers. Following the 5k there are races for children of all ages. The Run/Walk on the Prairie is part of the Lake County Wellness Celebration. Following the awards presentation join us at the Edible Harvest Festival for good food and fun for the whole family. All race participants admitted free by showing their race number. The Run/Walk on the Prairie is the opening event of the Lake County Wellness Celebration. Come celebrate "family, farm, food, and fitness," the jewels of Lake County! After finishing your run/walk, satisfy your hunger at the Edible Harvest Festival beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie Crossing Farm. Network with 15 local farmers and 40 organizations that either grow or prepare locally grown food and promote healthy living, open space, and gardening. Taste the robust flavors of locally grown food! Bring your family for the chef cook-off, a farm tour, a sheepdog demo, petting zoo, scarecrow making, pumpkin painting, and more. Best of all, take the wellness celebration home by purchasing local food, pumpkins, stress-reducing crafts, and much, much more! And here's more incentive: All runners attend the Edible Harvest Festival for free! Simply show us your race number at the entrance to the festival, and enjoy the food, fun, and festivities with your family until 4 p.m. See you there!
