Course Information:
Located in the heart of northeast Indiana, Columbia City is a small-town community with true Hoosier values. It's a community rooted in its agricultural heritage, strengthened by its commercial and residential development, and proud of its hometown heroes.
In honor of those heroes and servicemen and servicewomen throughout the state and nation, the Columbia City Parks and Recreation Department, Time-to-Run professional chip timers, and long-time race director Gary Bird have teamed up to launch the first annual Veterans Marathon and Half-Marathon on November 14, 2009. Only 20 miles west of Fort Wayne on US Highway 30, Columbia City is easy to find, easy to get to, easy to appreciate, and easy to enjoy. We can't promise the race is easy to run, but we promise you'll have fun.
Come experience the challenge and excitement of running the Veterans Marathon and Half-Marathon and do so in honor of America's veterans. You'll be glad you did. Runners will start together at the intersection of Main and Van Buren Streets on the northeast side of the Courthouse Square downtown.
Runners will go east on Van Buren, cross the Blue River and turn right onto Tower View Drive.
Just before the Mile-2 mark (aid #1 and #6), the course heads east on County Road 100S to Williams Drive, left on Business 30 and then takes a sharp right turn onto Paige Road.
Runners then turn left onto Raber Road (aid #2 and #5), then right onto 300S just after Mile-6 for a triangle loop on to Keiser Road and back to Raber Road (aid #3 and #4).
The course then heads back into town on Raber Road, right on Ohio Street, right again on Business 30, then left on Tower View (aid #1 and #6).
After a short distance on Tower View Drive, runners head west on Hanna Street, passing Mile-12, and then make their way to Whitley Street (aid #7), onto Wayne Street, and then back on Van Buren to the Half-marathon finish line on the west side of the Courthouse Square on Chauncey Street.
