  • Additional Information:

The Yukon River Trail Marathon, small by almost any standard, grew out of a movement to trail running that also lead to increased interest in ultra-distance running. The trail is both scenic and challenging, and as a loop course offers a diverse and rewarding introduction to Yukon trail running. Rick Janowicz and Rob McWilliam originated the concept and organized the event for a number of years.

Rick is still involved with race organization, and Rob has run almost every event. The Yukon River Trail Marathon builds on a history of previous Whitehorse marathons, including the Midnight Gold Marathon that was run on a date close to the summer solstice, finishing close to midnight.

For some great trail running and to get ready for the marathon, join us on the Sportslife Trail Runs every Thursday evenings beginning April 30. Visit www.athleticsyukon.ca, Calendar of Events, for the location of the weekly road and trail runs.
