Accolades
Check out Runner's World At the Races. It is a nice video description of the Catalina Marathon done by Bart Yasso.
USA Today picks the Catalina Marathon as one of the 10 best winter marathons.
Runner's World names the Catalina Marathon the #1 Off Road marathon in the world. Enjoy some of the most breathtaking scenery while running 26.2 miles over the Island of Catalina. The race traverses mostly dirt trails and roads through areas of the interior of the Island where very few have gone. The race starts in Two Harbors and runs to Avalon. It is a hilly, challenging Marathon, but worth every mile! Who knows, you may even run with some buffalos!
The Buffalo Run Half Marathon and Catalina Marathon will combine to form the American Trail Championship, presented by Suunto. Awards will be based on the combined time in both events and given to the top male and female overall as well as winners in each age and weight category. Participants who compete in both events will receive an American Trail Championship t-shirt.
Ultimate American Trail Championship VIP Entry: Treat yourself to this ultimate deal! Includes: Entry into Catalina Marathon and Buffalo Run Half Marathon, Marathon Race Day Boat, Official 2009 Catalina Marathon & Buffalo Run Hats, and 2009 Official American Trail Championship Lapel Pin.
This represents the total number of miles in the Rose Bowl Half Marathon, Buffalo Run Half Marathon and the Catalina Marathon. Amazing as it may seem, the distance from Pasadena to Catalina is very close to 52.4 miles. For the 2008 Rose Bowl Half Marathon and 2009 Buffalo Run and Catalina Marathon, anyone who finishes all 3 races will receive a special finisher t-shirt with the 52.4 logo on the front and the logo of all 3 events on the back. Awards will be given to the top 5 times overall in male and female only for the first season. We will post the cumulative times following the first two events and monitor it through the finale at the Catalina Marathon next March. There is no charge or entry fee, we only ask that you check off on your online registration that you plan to do all three. Good luck training for a great challenge.
